Unpopular Opinions Tag!

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I’ve done tags so here we go! Thanks for everyone who have been tagging me. I’ll do them all … eventually. Anyway, I will be doing the Unpopular Opinions Tag — pretty self explanatory. Answer the questions and then tag some people haha. Thank you Shanayah from The Scarlet Bookkeeper for tagging me!

1. A popular book or series that you didn’t like

Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. Actually I really enjoyed the first book but I read spoilers for the rest of the trilogy. No. NOPE. Everyone loves Warner and I just don’t and I will never like him.

2. A popular book that everyone hates but you love

I can’t say that everyone hates it but I know a lot of people who don’t like the Requiem (Delirium #3) by Lauren Oliver. Everyone hated Alex there — I can never hate Alex. He’s my baby. The book also had a very open ending, which Oliver said she did to let us fill in our own ending. I won’t say I LOVE it but I did enjoy it more than others.

3. A love triangle where your ship did not sail

It’s not exactly a “triangle” anymore but my original ship in the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas did not sail — and before I would be really adamant about how beautiful they’d be together but now, I’m glad they’re not together. He could do better. *shots fired*

4. A popular genre that you hardly reach for.

I don’t do horror. I can’t read Stephen King. I will die from fear. I can’t do horror. I can’t even watch a scary movie. Supernatural is just about the scariest thing I watch and that’s not even horror. I wish I was courageous enough to read The Shining by Stephen King. I’ve heard so many good things!

5. A beloved character you didn’t like.

ROWAN MOTHERFREAKING WHITEHORN. Screw you buddy. Anger has passed. He’s from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas.  I really liked him actually in Heir of Fire when he helped Aelin out of her depressive funk but then Queen of Shadows and Empire of Storms happened and no thank you.

6. A popular author you can’t get into

I’m gonna say Patrick Ness. I’m not sure if I can’t get into his writing. I tried to read The Knife of Never Letting Go but gave up. But to be honest, I didn’t try very hard to keep reading it. I might not have been in the right mood for that kind of book. Maybe one day!

7. A popular book series you have no interest in reading

If you know me, you know I love series so I’m always down. But I guess I’d have to say like The Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy/ series … I honestly don’t know. I also can’t remember the author’s name.

8. An adaptation you like better than the book

A Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks. I really loved the movie! I thought that the events in the movie were much better than the book and I loved seeing it on screen. Mandy Moore and Shane West were great!

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag

Hey y’all! I’m so sorry for not posting in the past couple of days. Hectic life and no books in between. Those are the worst. I hope all of you are doing well and reading some great books! Raven @ Dreamy Addictions tagged me in the Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag. I think we might be well over mid year but it’s still a fun tag!

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2015

heir of fire

Tough one but I’ll have to go with Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas. I first read it in January and it blew me away. SJM just has a way of doing that. There were a lot of great contenders though. Trust me.

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far in 2015

Yes! Okay, so Cress by Marissa Meyer is the third book of The Lunar Chronicles and it was beyond fantastic! So far, it’s my favorite in the series. It is the sequel to Scarlet. I love Rapunzel and I love this retelling. Cress is so cute and ugh I can’t get enough of Captain Thorne.

New Release You Haven’t Read But Want To

queen of shadows

I have this, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas, book in my possession but I can’t read it yet because I have to reread Heir of Fire first! But once that happens, I’m going ham on this book!

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year

Okay, coming into 2015, Heir of Fire was my most anticipated but that already passed. My second most anticipated would have to be Winter by Marissa Meyer. It is the final installment to the Lunar Chronicles series and I can’t wait to hold it but at the same time, I’m so scared!

Biggest Disappointment

Words cannot express how much I detested this book! I was really excited to read Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott because it had such a great synopsis. It was so unique and intriguing but ruined by the main character.

Biggest Surprise

How to love

How to Love by Katie Cotugno is not really well-known so I didn’t know too much about it when I bought it. I bought it because of the beautiful cover and the colors. After reading it, I found out that the inside is just as amazing as the outside!

Favorite New Author (Debut of New to You)

jenny han

This honor should go to Jenny Han. I read her books for the first time this year and I fell in love! She’s such an amazing writer and I need more books from her! She wrote: To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, P.S. I Still Love You, and The Summer Trilogy

Newest Fictional Crush

winner's curse

Arin from The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski is definitely my newest fictional crush! There are no words to describe him haha. Okay there’s a lot but I really loved his character in the book and how he was with Krestel!

Newest Favorite Character

I love love love Cinder from … Cinder by Marissa Meyer. She was so cool! She’s smart, witty, funny, and lovable. I love anything Cinderella! I also love her story and her background!

Book that Made You Cry

order of the phoenix

Oh you know, J.K. Rowling just killed off my favorite character in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. No that’s not tears in my eye. There’s like dirt or, you know, a branch just bugging my eye.

Book that Made You Happy

To all the boys i've loved before

Whenever I need a pick-me-up, I read some of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. It makes me laugh so much. Upon reading the synopsis, I knew that I had to read it because secret love letters being mailed out would be something that would happen to me! Oh and you know … Peter Kavinsky!

Favorite Book to Film Adaptation You Saw this Year

book thief

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak was probably my favorite from this year. Read that carefully haha, this year. I haven’t seen too many book to film adaptations this year so yeah. The movie wasn’t perfect, far from it, but I still really enjoyed it above the ones I’ve seen this year.

Favorite Review You’ve Written this Year

assassin's blade

Hahaha, my review of The Assassin’s Blade by Sarah J. Maas is my absolute favorite. I wrote it right after I read the last novella. You could imagine my emotional state was not stable at all. I couldn’t really form words so it was purely gif reactions. You can look at my review here.

Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought So Far this Year (or Received)

everything everything

Wait. Are we talking about most beautiful cover or content? My answer for most beautiful cover would be Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon. Just look at it! Gorgeous! I love the white and then the colors that pop at the bottom. It also has beautiful content haha.

What Books Do You Need to Read by the End of the Year?

queen of shadows winter magnus chase these broken starts red queen winner's crime cruel beauty ruby circle heart of betrayal

Waiting for Queen of Shadows

Throne of Glass

Happy Monday!! So I’ll be going back to work today, it’s a good thing and bad thing. Bad because I’m going to have to work but good because it means the hurricane/tropical storm isn’t a threat and you know, my job’s kind of fun. If you didn’t know, Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas will be released tomorrow!!! Some people actually have their copies already (teach me your ways!) I’ll be getting my copy maybe next week since mine doesn’t ship until Wednesday. That sucks but it’s going to be signed and personalized by SJM tomorrow at one of her signings so I can wait!

In anticipation of the release, I’ve been rereading the entire series. I only have Heir of Fire to go. Along with that, I’ve been doing Sarah J. Maas editions of Kiss, Marry, Kill and if you want to join a long you still can. You can find them here, here, here, and here! I’ve spent a lot of time going through tumblr posts and looking for Dorian fans haha! It’s been a lot of fun 😀

Wait for Queen of Shadows Book Tag!

This tag was created by Kelsey over at Don’t Shush Me! Make sure you give her a follow, she has such a lovely blog and she’s so much fun to talk to!

Favorite book by Sarah J. Maas and why?

Throne of Glass

I would have to say Throne of Glass! It was the book that started it all and open our eyes to Celaena Sardothien. I really enjoyed the plot and the idea of fighting to become champion. Plus! It has so much of my ship and they’re so freaking adorable!

Favorite character in Throne of Glass series and why?

dorian celaena

Don’t make me choose between them because I can’t. Both Dorian and Celaena are my number one favorite characters in the series. Because Dorian is a cinnamon roll, too precious, too pure for this world. Celaena is freaking kickbutt but that the same time so girly! I mean, look at those pictures of them! I can’t even! So perf!

Which team are you? Dorian, Chaol, or Rowan?

I am 200% Team Dorian. Never wavered. Never will. I still believe they’ll be endgame. I’m crazy like that. I’m like a part of the Dorian Havilliard Squad — look it up, it’s real. If it seriously doesn’t work out then, Team Aelin because she doesn’t need a man. Team Sam because if he was alive, there wouldn’t be any team wars. Team Anyone but Chaol because I can’t stand him.

How long have you had to wait between reading Heir of Fire, & Queen of Shadows?

Eeeek! Not as long as other people waited since I didn’t read Heir of Fire as soon as it was published. I read The Assassin’s Blade first. I read HoF back in January. It’s still a long wait but not as long.

What are your favorites out of the books that have helped you pass the time in between Sarah J. Maas book releases?

acotar To all the boys i've loved before PS I still love you cress the one Lux-Consequences prisoner of azkaban How to love winner's curse

SO many great books I read in between that I love but these would have to be the favorites!

When do you think you’ll get a chance to read Queen of Shadows?

*cries* Maybe in a week or two? I still have to reread HoF and I’ve got a bunch of ARCs and author requests to go through. Not to mention, my copy of QoS won’t be here anytime soon.

What would you say to recommend Sarah J. Maas books to someone who has never read them?

This is what I did for my friend who hasn’t read SJM:

  • I bought them a copy of Throne of Glass
  • Relentlessly talked it up and gave her a more detailed and interesting synopsis than the one provided
  • Told her about all the positive reviews and how there will be romance (she loves romance)
  • Begged her to read it because I don’t have non-book-blogging friends that have read Throne of Glass and I need to fangirl with someone in real life.

How are you guys coming along in your wait for Queen of Shadows? If you’d like to do that tag, go ahead and do so! It’s a lot of fun!

Inside Out Tag

Hello there! I hope you all are having a glorious Monday! Where I’m at, school started again — not for me since I graduated — but I still have one more week of vacation before I start working again. That’s why I’m pretty happy this Monday afternoon. Raven @ Dreamy Addictions tagged me in the Inside Out Tag. Thank you, thank you for tagging me! I absolutely loved the film. I laughed and I cried. Pixar has a way of doing that to me. If you haven’t seen the film, I highly suggest that you do! There’s no word yet but with how it ended, there can be a sequel.

giphy To all the boys i've loved before

A Book That Brings You Joy

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han — quite possibly the longest title I know — makes me so happy. Peter Kavinsky makes me so happy. I just love this book so much! Happy review here, yay!

giphy-1 heartbeat

A Book That Makes You Angry

Heartbeat by Elizabeth Scott. Don’t. Even. Ask. I’m not allowed to talk about this book anymore because it makes my blood pressure rise. Anyway, read my review here.

giphy-2 clockwork princess

A Book That Makes You Sad

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. I wrote myself a warning on a post-it the first time I read this saying, “Do not read this book. It will be the end of you.” Because it was the end of me. *Cries endless tears for Will Herondale*

giphy-3 50 shades

A Book That Disgusts You

Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James — I can’t be alone in this right?! I just, no. *shudders* Pass! (Along with books similar to it)

giphy-4 demon inside

A Book That Brings You Fear

The Demon Inside by M. L. Sparrow. That cover scared me so much, I try not to look at it. Every time a character encountered one of those things, I could just see those eyes staring back at me. Read my review here!

Around the World in YA

Around the World in YA-2

Hello everyone! Before I continue, I just want to say thank you for bearing with me. I’m in the middle of changing themes and colors on my blog! Along with that and job orientation/training, I haven’t been able to read much (boo) so I have yet to post a review (even more boo). Anyway, today I’ll be doing the Around the World in YA tag. Thank you Becca @ Becca and Books for creating and tagging me! It looks like so much fun. A lot of people travel for the summer … I’m not one of them lol so I live vicariously through fictional characters! I love reading books with a wide diversity of cultures and locations!

The rules:

List a country, and then show which favorite book of yours is set in that country is. You can use the countries I used, add your own, or use completely different ones!

die for me

The Die for Me trilogy by Amy Plum is set in Paris, France! This trilogy was such a great read and those book covers are gorgeous!

his fair assassin

His Fair Assassin’s trilogy by Robin LaFevers (amazing by the way) takes places in France, too. However, it takes place ins Brittany, not Paris!

infernal devices

My favorite trilogy, The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare, takes place all over London! Take me there!

book thief

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak takes place in Germany! I don’t particularly love that era in Germany but still.

just one year

Just One Day by Gayle Forman actually takes place at different locations in Europe but most importantly in Amsterdam.

South Africa

Fiela's Child

Fiela’s Child by Dalene Matthee (required reading in high school haha) took me to South Africa! It was one of my favorite required readings!

Summertime Madness Tag

Thank you Analee @ Book Snacks Blog for tagging me in the Summertime Madness Tag!! Make sure you check her blog out and follow, she is an absolute sweetheart! I’m catching up on tags, so this is really late in the game. We’re almost hitting autumn here but better late than never, right?!

1. Show a book with a summery cover!

Since you've been gone

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson! Very summery cover! It also takes place during summer, look at that haha! You can read my review of it here.
2. Pick one fictional place that would be the perfect destination for a summer vacation!

the hobbitThe Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. I would love to visit The Shire!! It sounds so beautiful and the movies are filmed in New Zealand so you can only imagine how breathtaking all the scenery is! Rolling hills and luscious green fields! Sign me up!
3.You’re about to go on a flight to your summer vacation. But you want to read a book that lasts for the whole flight, what novella do you choose?

Just one nightJust One Night by Gayle Forman is one of my favorite novellas of all time! It’s so sweet and I love the switching between points of view! It’s pretty short so I’ll probably finish it quickly or it’s a short flight!
4. You have a case of summertime sadness what happy book do you pick up to shine a smile on your face?

To all the boys i've loved before

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han! This book makes me extremely happy! It’s so cute and fun and I always laugh when I read it! I just bought this book this January and I’ve already read it 3 times haha!
5.You’re sitting at the beach all alone…which fictional character would be your beach babe?

clockwork angelDo you really have to ask? Will Herondale all the way. He’s from Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. I mean look at that book cover! Imagine that shirtless on a beach towel, feeding you grapes. Yes! *Drools*
6. To match your ice cream you want an icy cool sidekick! Which fictional side kick do you pick?

fangirlFangirl by Rainbow Rowell! I’d love to chill and hang out with Cather from this book. We’d have so much in common! We can go to a café or a bookstore and work on fanfics and talk about books!

3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag: Day #3

Hey bookworms! Today marks the last day of the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag! It’s been fun and challenging picking just 3 lovey-dovey quotes and I honestly hope that you’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve picked. For the last time, a huge thank you to Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner and Kerry @ KerryBerryBooks for the tag! If you didn’t get to read my first two quotes or you really enjoyed them, you can read them here: 1st quote, 2nd quote!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day).
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day.

Today’s Quote:

***Fair warning, the following quote may contain spoilers for Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare. So, Josie, if you’re reading this, you might want to skip this one — especially my note about the quote!***

I will not be gone from you entirely, Will. When you fight now, I will be still by you. When you walk in the world, I will be the light at your side, the ground steady under your feet, the force that drives the sword in your hand. We are bound, beyond the oath.

Who said it? Jem Carstairs
What book? Clockwork Princess (The Infernal Devices #3)
Written by who? Cassandra Clare
Why do I love it? Because I love being in pain obviously! One of my favorite things about this trilogy is the amazing love between Will, Jem, and Tessa. It’s funny because it’s a full love triangle where even Tessa has to compete because Will and Jem have this unbreakable bond that Tessa would never really be a part of. Jem was sot of saying goodbye here before he left for Silent City and the love pouring out of his little speech for Will was just so devastating. They were best friends, brothers, family, parabatai. It’s a beautiful love!

3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag: Day #2

Hi again! Welcome to Day 2 of the 3 Days, 3 Quotes Tag! Thanks again to Josie @ Josie’s Book Corner and Kerry @ KerryBerryBooks for tagging me! If you missed yesterday’s post, you can read up on it here. Just to reiterate, my quotes will be love themed!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you.
  • Post a quote for 3 consecutive days (1 quote for each day).
  • Nominate three new bloggers each day.

Today’s Quote:

She was not becoming anything different from what she always was and always had the capacity to be. You just finally saw everything. And once you saw the other part of her … You cannot pick and choose what parts of her to love. Just as you cannot pick which parts of me to accept.

Who said it? Dorian Havilliard
What book? Heir of Fire (Throne of Glass #3)
Written by who? Sarah J. Maas
Why do I love it? Love encompasses so many things and I love the loyalty that is displayed here. I love how much faith and respect that Dorian has for Celaena. He saw and praised her for her strength, not just physical strength but her emotional and psychological strength, having dealt with and overcome the obstacles and torture that she has had to endure at the hands of his father and Arobynn. Not all love is romantic and I love the display of unwavering friendship here. I also love that this is what moves Chaol to change his views of Dorian and Celaena.
