Summary:

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Cameron Hamilton is used to getting what he wants, especially when it comes to women. But when Avery Morgansten comes crashing into his life – literally – he finally meets the one person who can resist his soulful baby blues. But Cam’s not ready to give up – he can’t get this feisty and intriguing girl out of his head.

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

I am so, so excited that I am doing a double review. I don’t usually do this – actually I never do this – but technically these two books are the same, except Wait for You is in Avery’s point of view and Trust In Me is in Cam’s. They basically have the same plot and I love it so, so much. This is my first Jennifer L. Armentrout (writing as J. Lynn) New Adult and I’m pretty picky when it comes to New Adult but I am also in love with anything and everything that JLA writes. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about these books. I can’t stop think about Cam *cough, cough* I mean, the book. Oh, screw it, I freaking love Cam. Can he be real, please? I’ve dealt with persistent guys before and they’ve annoyed me but Cam’s persistence is so freaking adorable. He knows when to push and when to stop. You can’t not fall in love with him.

I love Avery. She was such a great character and very relatable. She had a very traumatic past (hold my poodle, I’m about to go crazy on this guy who hurt her and the friends who betrayed her) and wants nothing more than to distance herself from it. She’s very closed off and has given up on dancing because of the attention it gives her. I don’t blame her at all for the choices that she made during the book. She’s not a perfect person and she makes mistakes, too. I love how much she changed and grew into a more confident person. Despite what she thinks of herself, she is a very strong person. I love her relationship with Cam and I love how it changes in the book as well. The development of it was one of my favorite aspects of the book. SO. MUCH. TENSION. So much witty banter and flirting.

Cam is indescribable. Armentrout knows how to write these swoon-worthy male characters. Cam is no exception. If you think loved him in Wait For You, be prepared to love him even more in Trust In Me. His point of view is just gold. He’s hilarious, genuine, and a little cocky but not to the point of it getting annoying. It was rather funny. He’s sweet and how he just loves to take care of Avery and his sister .. UGHHHH where are the Cams of this world!! I definitely enjoyed reading this book through his eyes and being able to see what his actions meant and what he was thinking when you read Wait For You. If you’re not a big fan of New Adult, I think that this is a good book that can feel YA at times. It’s a pretty good segue book!
