#(f)mcm: Daemon Black

Hello!! I hope you’re having a great start of the week! Last week I didn’t do a #(f)mcm and the weeks before I’ve been doing fictional men from contemporary novels. This week, to break free from contemporary fiction, I introduce you to one of my favorite men: Daemon Black from Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux Series.

daemon daemon

Did you see him? Do you see how good he looks? Black hair. Emerald green eyes. Tall. Athletic fit. Alien. Yes, alien. Specifically, he’s Luxen: a being of light. He has power over light. He can move things with his mind. He can even heal you — if he really wants to. There’s a lot more to Daemon than his drop dead gorgeous exterior. On the inside, he’ll piss you off. He knows what buttons to press to get you angry. He’ll frustrate you to no end. He’s sarcastic and rude and conceited and a know-it-all.

Question: If he’s so standoffish, why do you like him? Why does anybody like him? While it doesn’t particularly excuse how he treated Katy when they first met, he does have a good reason. He has a world of reasons. He has so many people relying on him and such a big burden on his shoulder. Still doesn’t completely excuse his actions but he’s just used to keeping everyone at arm’s length. He makes up for it, though. Underneath that rockin’ bod, he’s funny, smart, sweet, thoughtful, and he’ll put his family and his girl over anything and everything. He says some of the funniest and sweetest things! He’ll burn the whole world down for you — I’m not even joking. If he isn’t your cup of tea in the first book, just wait until you meet the real Daemon in the second, third, and fourth books (seriously, awesome character development in the series)!

How did you feel about Daemon Black? Who’s your fictional man crush Monday?

  1. Daemon is amazing. He is sarcastic and may seem mean but on the inside he is lovable and protective. He is so hot and they better get a good actor for him in the movie. I really can’t wait for Oblivion because who doesn’t want more Daemon goodness.

  2. Omg I love Vampire Diaries, too!! I was more of an Edward fan when I read Twilight haha but Jacob was cool. YES! He is gorgeous! Did you know that the book model Daemon and book model Katy are together in real life … like engaged and all. So cool!

I’m totally and completely in love with Daemon Black.. I already had something for that name- Daemon (or Damon, as in Vampire Diaries *wink*), and also the surname Black (as in Jacob Black), so maybe that was the reason… And plus, the guy on the cover of the book- do I need to explain??

  4. Well aren’t you glad I started reading COM so you would read this series? 😉

  5. I had a big problem with Daemon initially, and I DID NOT like him going into book 2. But that’s part of the reason why I love this series, because it wasn’t insta-love (even if it was insta-lust) and his flaws never really go away- you just learn he has good qualities too. I also like how he gradually accepted that Katy was powerful and relented his controlling behavior, and how Katy herself didn’t allow herself to fall victim to his controlling tendencies, and how he started seeing her as an equal. I think that distinguishes him from a lot of the hot-bad-boy-yet-abusive-controlling-types in YA.

Fabulous feature, I look forward to more of these! 🙂

    • Yeah! I did, too. I liked the moments when his sweet personality would seep in. I really liked how she wrote the characters in this series and great development. Katy not falling for his looks and not taking his crap really sets it apart.

Thank you! Means a lot 😀
