Summary provided by Goodreads:
Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.
She can’t believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.
Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.
They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.
War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.
I am so sad about having to say goodbye to this series! I already want to reread it. It has become one of my top favorite series. It had everything in it: romance, action, science fiction, tragedy, and comedy. Opposition wasn’t any different! Just like the books before it, it came wrapped with numerous plot twists. This was the only book in the series that I was able to read spoiler-free and let me tell you, going in dark was so scary! I was so nervous the entire time, knowing how Armentrout has written the others. I would freak out every few chapters.
We begin with the Luxen invading and Daemon, Dee, and Dawson are missing, joining these Luxens. I started freaking out even more when Daemon seemed like he didn’t have a clue about who Kat was and how he was treating her reminded me of Obsidian. It was extremely heartbreaking! As the story progressed and truths unraveled, you realized that the group won’t come out of this that easy. After surviving one situation, they come face to face with another, even more difficult situation.
I enjoyed this book so much! I laughed. I cried — oh boy, did I cry! There was so many different emotions rolling through me as I read this. It was a real memorable ending to the series. I think that this book ended the series very well. There weren’t any plot holes or unanswered questions– at least I think so. I’m really not ready to say goodbye to this, to Daemon. I think that was the hardest for me! Overall, I really loved this book and series — so much so that I went on a gif overload!
